top 3 cloud service providers, aws, azure, google cloud platform, gcp, difference between aws azure gcp, advantages and disadvantages of aws azure gcp
TOP 3 CLOUD SERVICE PROVIDERS
Three cloud providers Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform are the top three competitors in the market and serving excellent services to businesses around the world. Let's start with, why cloud computing? Hosting applications traditionally was a tedious process and need more cost. The amount of hardware and software resources required to run them was complex. Like you would be needing a team of experts to install, configure, test, run, secure, and update them. But in cloud computing, everything is well managed and you only pay for what you use. For example, the traditional cloud is not exactly quick, efficient, and secure. With cloud computing, it is easy to deliver services over the internet.
Cloud deployment model
There
are four cloud deployment models. Private, Public, Community, and Hybrid like
each cloud deployment model satisfied different organization needs. The main
type of cloud computing includes software as a service, platform as a service,
and infrastructure as a service. Salesforce, MailChimp (a web-based email
marketing service) is under software as a service. Microsoft Azure, CloudBees
is under the platform as a service, and Rackspace, Amazon web service is under
infrastructure as a service.
Now
let's explore each cloud provider individually.
What is Amazon Web Service?
Amazon
web service is a subsidiary of Amazon that gives on-demand cloud computing
services. It has 170 plus services upon running 55 availability zones are in 24
reasons.
What
is the availability zone?
Availability
zones are nothing but physical data centers for a reason. It provides inexpensive low legacy and network connectivity to other availability zones for the same reason.
What is Microsoft Azure?
Microsoft
Azure is a subsidiary of Microsoft and is used to build test, deploy, and manage
applications in the cloud. It has 100 plus services upon running 54 as your
reasons available across 140 countries which are used as compared to other cloud
providers.
What is Google Cloud Platform?
Google
search engine hosted on a google cloud platform. It is used to develop tools for data
and analytics, from secure infrastructure. It has 100 plus services upon
running 25 reasons with 76 totals zone around the globe and also planning for
more.
Difference between AWS, Azure, and GCP
History and open source
Nothing
ever becomes real till it is experienced. AWS started providing its services in the market from the
beginning of 2006 where azure started its services in 2010. GCP launched at the beginning
of 2008. AWS is friendly with the open-source software whereas your lag a bit
behind in the terms of relationship with the open-source community. GCP offers
manage open-source services that are tightly integrated into google cloud.
Service integration
AWS
allows users to integrate with services like Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, bean
stock, etc. where azure allows users to integrate with services like Azure VM,
Azure App Service, SQL databases. In GCP you can integrate with services like compute
engine, cloud storage, and cloud SQL.
Managing packages
Any
software you take that will need a package manager like for angular or any node-based framework that needs a node package manager. In AWS, you need to integrate
an external software or third-party software like artifactory. But in Azure,
there is a tool as your artifacts it is used to manage packages like Nugget,
Maven, etc. inside the Azure portal. In Google Cloud Platform, artifact registry is
a single place to manage container images and language packages like Maven and
npm in terms of managing.
Popular companies use cloud service providers
Netflix,
Adobe, BBC, Twitter, Facebook, Twitch, Spotify, ESPN, LinkedIn are using Amazon
web service. Adobe, HP, eBay, Boeing, Samsung, BMW, Rolls Royale are all using
Microsoft Azure. PayPal, Verizon, Twitter, Intel, Airbus, Yahoo, Spotify, SAP,
Toyota are using the google cloud platform.
Advantages of AWS, Azure, and GCP
Microsoft
azure is the strongest competitor of AWS and Google Cloud
Platform it offers large support for hybrid cloud applications and helps companies to protect their client data that could be sensitive. AWS is an
established market leader and has the maximum market share as compared to other
cloud vendors. GCP has high computational contributions like big data analytics and
machine learning by providing significant scaling and load balancing.
Azure
has great integration with its respective tools and software. AWS
offers minimum data loss during the service and storage transfer. In Google
Cloud Platform, it is easy to integrate with other GCP services like Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, or App Engine.
Azure
has the highest availability zones. Azure offers 54 as your reasons available 140
countries which are higher in all cloud giants. Where AWS provides 76
availability zone with 24 countries and planning for more. Google cloud platform is known for its detailed documentation including an API reference guide.
Azure
has a deeper knowledge of enterprise needs. Azure services fulfill the
requirement of enterprises. AWS provides easy availability of data it comes from the server ability zone. So users can choose to store the data near to their
location. Google cloud platform is committed to open source and portability and
has a great reputation in the community.
Disadvantages of AWS, Azure, and GCP
Azure
should provide easier integration with other products line to improve
accessibility. But in azure, integration with non-Microsoft is difficult. Where AWS
is less open to a private cloud that makes it less popular in terms of storage options for the industries like banking they cannot compromise with user privacy. In the google cloud platform, Google’s app engine is limited to Java, Python, PHP, and
google go. But developers want a little bit of improvement in this section.
Azure
is friendly with their software and tools but not with non-window platforms
they have to improve in this section where AWS has no demonstrated support for
hybrid cloud. In GCP, the cost of downloading data from storage is big.
Azure
has low-quality support where AWS has a vast range of products to offer its
user. But to be able to navigate through these products and choose the best
out of them is quite difficult. An organization may find AWS too complex in the sense
that there are too many services that can potentially manipulate where GCP
provides quite costly support. The cost is about 150 dollars per month for a silver
class which is the most basic of services.
