WHAT IS 5G TECHNOLOGY?

5G technology is a trending technology at present. What exactly 5G technology is? 5G stands for the fifth generation of wireless mobile technology. Experts say 5G is expected to revolutionize the networks, workplace, and enhance consumer experiences. 5G wireless technology is meant to provide us with high-speed internet. In number, it is 10 gigabytes per second. But in reality, 5G is 20 times faster than 4G. The reason behind 5G having a higher speed than the other networks. This is due to the communication principle which says the shorter the frequency larger the bandwidth. So 5G uses shorter frequencies. And that's the reason why 5G can be faster. Because it will have a high band 5G spectrum which will provide the expected boost in speed. And also other features like capacity low latency and quality. But at present, the 5G download speed could differ widely by area.

Next is the latency, the term latency is the delay between sending and receiving information and 5G is having very low latency. What is 5G low latency? The delay between sending and receiving information is very low at 5G compared to the other networks. The latency of the 4G network is around 50 milliseconds (50ms) while 5G network the average is 10 milliseconds (10ms) and the best case is around one millisecond (1ms). So we can see how fast 5G is.


Uses of having low latency in 5G technology

The following are a few examples of areas where low latency of 5G technology is used.

Autonomous Vehicles

Autonomous vehicles are a good example where latency is of utmost importance. Because autonomous vehicles are capable of sensing their environment and operate without any human involvement. So vehicles moving at high speeds need almost real-time information from their surroundings and during the development of 5G, even self-driving vehicles were kept in consideration.

A few examples of autonomous vehicles are Autonomous electric cars, Self-driving mini-trucks, Self-parking car systems, and Satellite-controlled vehicles. The smart vehicle can respond to hundreds of arriving data and communicate its reaction back to other vehicle and road signals within milliseconds. We can see the future is going to be quite weird and interesting.

In non-standalone 5G, the 5G radios will be used to provide fast data to the end-user, and for the control and the signaling 4G architecture will be used. 4G refers to the fourth generation of mobile communication standards. And 5G refers to the fifth generation of mobile communication standards.

Pros of 5G network include faster speed in the transmission, low latency, increased capacity, high-level bandwidth, and powering innovation. Because of this speed downloading, web browsing, or video streaming could be done without any interruption with 5G. And we will be able to use YouTube and any platform without any buffering or delay. The cons of the 5G network include limited global coverage, decreased bypass distance, upload speeds, devise batteries, and cyber security. The main problem about 5G at present is that the millimeter-wave signal in 5G can be blocked by objects like trees, walls, and buildings. But for this problem, there were different solutions which were presented about this like how to get around this issue. But the most accepted one involves using many nodes around each block of a populated area. So that 5G used device can use an air interface switching from node to node. So, we should have a lot of nodes when you are driving through the city you are automatically connected to the network. Most of these problems will be reduced with time as this technology is still in making.
